What Biological Age Is — and What It Isn't

A real scientific concept with real limits

7 min

Your 'biological age' is now sold as a hidden number that reveals how fast you're aging. The concept is real — but it is not one universal truth, and the precision it promises is often ahead of the science.

Key Nuance
Different biological age tools (blood chemistry, epigenetic clocks, physical function) do not all measure the same thing and do not always agree. A result that is statistically meaningful at the population level may not be fully interpretable for one individual.
HealthLit Take
Biological age is a meaningful concept. It is just much less singular and definitive than the way it is often marketed.
